| Historic Buildings/Conservation
This is a truly sensitive area, but at Ferrier Hart Thomas we are extremely proud of our work and accomplishments in restoring a number of Listed buildings. Managing such projects from the client’s wishes, whilst observing conservation principles and objectives is often a difficult task. But we have managed to install lifts within Listed buildings, sourced contemporary materials to match old in churches and made major adjustments within buildings to meet Health and Safety requirements.
Whatever the challenge, we will meet it.
Even if a Listed building is rotten in places, requires re-wiring from top to bottom, has rising damp, wet and dry rot, crumbling masonry, leaks and stains, missing slates, we will apply ourselves to the task.
The practice has been instructed by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese to prepare Specifications and Schedule of Works for a large church in the Bridgend area, where careful matching to old is a major influence.
The practice is also instructed in the external and internal alterations of a Grade II Listed building, including the provision of disabled lift, together with upgrading of facilities for visitors and occupants compliant with Health and Safety issues within a sensitive grant aided construction.
